About This Activity

Grab your wand, hop on your broom, and join us for the Wizarding Run in historic, picturesque Chestnut Hill!  Starting and ending at the Church of St. Martin-in-the-field Episcopal Church, 8000 St. Martins Lane, distances include a 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. After the run/walk, stick around and celebrate the magical world with us with music and butterscotch soda! After the run/walk, stick around and enjoy the Witches & Wizards Festival held throughout Chesnut Hill! 

About the Witches and Wizards Festival:


This fall, Chestnut Hill renews its seasonal tradition for the charming urban village that unites mischief and ghosts of wizards-past, with family fun for an action-packed Witches & Wizards Festival weekend. Kicking off with Brews and Broomsticks Pub Crawl on Friday, October 18 and continuing with a day full of family-friendly programming on Saturday, October 19 – the 2019 Witches & Wizards Festival promises spooktacular entertainment and activities in a whimsical community setting. What Wizarding Run participants receive:

Participants of the 5K will receive a one of kind event shirt in the color of their choice: RED, GREEN, YELLOW, or BLUE , a spectacular FINISHER MEDAL, a custom WAND, a commemorative race bib, and a FREE BUTTERSCOTCH SODA  at the finish line!  

Participants of the 1 Mile Fun Run will receive a one of kind event shirt in the color of their choice: RED, GREEN, YELLOW, or BLUE, a custom wand, and a FREE BUTTERSCOTCH SODA at the finish line. 

Packet Pick-up:


Packet pick-up will be on Friday, October 18 at at Market at the Fairway (8221 Germantown Ave.) from 1:30p.m.-8:00p.m.  AND on Saturday, October 19 from 7:00a.m.-9:00a.m. at Church of St. Martin-in-the-field Episcopal Church, 8000 St Martins Ln. We strongly advise picking up on Friday if at all possible so as to avoid event morning rush. 


Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female in the 5K. 


The amazing Bob Brown with Boca Enterprises will be partnering up with the fantastic Resonation to provide an unmatched event atmosphere!

Virtual 5K Option Available!

Runners who can't attend race day can REGISTER for the Virtual 5K.  Virtual runners are not eligible for overall or age category awards.  Virtual runner directions:

  1. Run your virtual race distance anytime during the month of October or November.
  2. On or after race day (October 19), post your time result on the Wizarding Run Event page.
  3. Our staff will then mail the virtual race packet. Virtual runner packets will include event t-shirt, custom wand, custom finisher medal, and race bib.


1. Are strollers allowed on course?

   Yes! Please feel free to take your little one/s along for the run. 

2. Is this a pet friendly event?

    Absolutely! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed on the race course. 

3. Where should I park?


 4.  Can I walk the race?

     Of course! This is a family oriented event with a great mix of walkers and runners.

5.   Will the race be cancelled if the weather is bad?

       We will run rain or shine, wet or dry! Only in the event of severe weather including lightning will we postpone the start until the weather has passed.

Wizard Run

Grab your wand, hop on your broom, and join us for the Wizard Run. Take a magical journey through town with wizardly sights and sounds along the way. Distances include a 5K - hence the 3 and one tenths name - and a 1 Mile Fun Run. Costumes are highly encouraged!
