Dixie Mountain Loop

The main loop trail at Phoenixs new Sonoran Preserve provides plenty of options for either a short walk or a longer hike. The elevation gain is accumulated through small ups-and-downs along the trail. Look for the Teddy Bear Cholla forest between mile posts 2.6 and 2.75.

North Phoenix Preserve Mystery Loop

Well this time of the year there really was not a lot of wild life to see, just to hot. Starting from the 40st trailhead gave me a different view of the preserve. I really enjoyed this hike as some of the trails are not marked. I want to do this again in the spring after a nice rainfall.

Sidewinder-Apache Vista-Apache Wash-Ocotillo Loop

This is an excellent loop that is very well maintained, well sign posted and if you include the vista summit trail, a moderate work out. Massive Car Park, good restrooms, and plenty of seating. Make sure you bring plenty of drinking water.

This trail is a moderately difficult loop of around 9 miles in the Sonoran Preserve located in North Phoenix. Lots of Desert scenery, views and wildflowers in the Spring and shared with many Hikers, Mountain Bikers, and Horses.

This loop starts at Carefree Hwy and 7th Ave, be aware there is limited parking at the trailhead. The Ocotillo part of the trail is relatively flat and the Sidewinder part has some good elevation changes. Great Sonoran Desert scenery and views.
