About This Activity

The Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary Club is proud to host the "Rotary Opens Opportunities Virtual Race." A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.

Complete a virtual 5k,10k, or the 13.1 mile half marathon!

DETAILS:

- Registration Closes July 15th at 12 pm.

- Participants can complete their designated run any time between July 16th and July 30th.

- Run times must be submitted by 12 pm (pst) on July 31st, 2020. Submit run times to: wenatcheesunriseruns@gmail.com

AWARDS:

- Every participant that registers, completes their selected race, and submits their run time by the deadline will receive a 2" coin, which was created to commemorate this event.

- The top male and female participant from each race group (5k, 10k, Half Marathon) will receive a personalized plaque/trophy from a locally owned business, Haglund's Trophies.

***$5.00 from every registration will be donated to the Rotary Disaster Response Fund***

Rotary clubs from all over the world provide disaster recovery and support rebuilding efforts. Rotary Disaster Response Grants can be used to provide basic items such as water, food, medicine, and clothing. Grant funds can also be used to support COVID-19 activities.

Registration fees help support our Challenge Scholarship Program, focusing on at-risk high school students. Our club, while working with school counselors, identify 10th grade students that are at risk of not graduation high school. After the selection process up to 8 students are paired with mentors (club members) for a two-year period. During the two-year period club members help keep the students on track to graduate, with the possibility of 2 students being awarded a $10,000 scholarship each to the college or trade school of their choice.

The Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary Club helps fund a number of local projects such as Rotary Park, and the Second Harvest Food Truck. Our club is also involved with hunger & disaster relief, Polio eradication, international student exchange programs, and numerous community projects.
