About This Activity

C5 stands for Chasing Cures for Childhood Cancer.  This is a virtual race done individually or with a team of 2-4 people.  It is filled with five different race distances done on a minimum of five separate days. To make it more challenging, runners can complete the distances in  five consecutive days. Medals will be awarded for each participant who signs up. Each participant or team should complete a 5K, 10K, 15k, half-marathon, and marathon distance in the month of September. September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and perfect time to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  St. Jude's is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Furthormore, no family is turned away for their inability to pay for medical care for their child.  Out-of-pocket expenses are paid for through donations and fundraising.  Additional donations to the hospital can be made at heroes.stjude.org/juliana.

St. Jude Heroes

As a participant in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, many runners sign up to raise funds for the hospital while they train for the marathon. Each participant who takes the challenge to raise funds and train is called a St. Jude Hero. However, the real heroes are the children who fight cancer and other diseases, the doctors who treat them, and the scientists who are finding cures through research at the hospital. My endeavors as a St. Jude Hero is to help create fun, healthy fitness activities and challenges to support community health and fundraise to help pay for the research and treatment done at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
