THIS RACE IS CAPPED AT 400 FOR THE 15K & 800 FOR THE 5K . When we reach capacity, the event will NOT be reopened for registration. We will keep everyone updated as we near capacity!
On Saturday, March 11, 2017, a sea of green will fill the streets of Downtown Joplin for the greatest Gaelic shindy this side of the Atlantic! Welcome to the 2nd Annual St. Patrick's Day 15K & 5K! Runners and walkers will get beaded along the course with strands of green beads and will receive an amazing custom medal with a satin, sublimated ribbon at the finish! THIS YEAR, THE 15K MEDAL WILL BE LARGER THAN THE 5K MEDAL:-) A race shirt (women's cut runs small) as well as a pair of knit Irish flag arm warmers will be included in both the 15K & 5K registration. A trucker cap is included in the 15K registration only. And, as a reward for the miles covered, runners will enjoy a post race party with Irish music, green beer, and snacks at JB's Palace Pizza. Post-race party sponsored by JB's.
Course description: This CERTIFIED 15K course begins near City Hall on Main Street and will include historic Broadway/Route 66, the beautiful Frisco Trail, and the lovely Landreth Park! The CERTIFIED 5K course will follow also include portions of Broadway/Route 66 and Landreth Park.
Both the 15K and 5K will end on the 100 block of Main at the post-race St. Patrick's Day Party, hosted and sponsored by JB's! Enjoy post race refreshments and music at the finish line!
Race Day: March 11 at 8:00am
Packet Pick-up:March 10 from 10:00a.m.-6:00p.m. at The Runaround (422 S Main). Late packet pick-up will be available at City Hall at 6th & Main on race day from 6:00am to race start.
Chip Timing: Chip timing will be provided for all registered 15K & 5K registrants.
Race Shirts: 5K and 15K registrants registered by March 3rd will be guaranteed an ultra soft cotton blend race shirt. After March 3rd, shirts will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female in the 5K & 15K. And NEW THIS YEAR, age category awards will be given in 5 year age increments for the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25--29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-65, 65+.
DJ: Resonation will provide their amazing sound for us while BoCa Enterprises will emcee the event.
Course Time Limit: a 15 minute mile pace or faster is required for the 15K race distance. This is approximately a 4mph brisk walk. If a participant falls below this pace, we cannot guarantee course support and road closures may no longer be available.
Race Day Registration: Race day registration will be available from 6:00 am to race start.
Virtual Option Available! Runners who can't attend race day can sign up for the Virtual 15K or 5K. Virtual runners are not eligible for overall or age category awards.
Virtual runner directions: Run your virtual race distance anytime during the month of March. On or after race day (March 11th), post your time result on either the Event page or on your My Activities dashboard on LocalRaces.com. Our staff will then mail virtual runners a race shirt, medal, and goodie bag!
