Joplin Turkey Trot

NOTE:  Late 5K entries (after Nov 18th) will have their shirt and finisher medal mailed to them.  They will not receive their finisher medal at race finish.

November 24 – Joplin Turkey Trot: 5K @ 8:00am and 1 Mile @ 7:30am

Welcome to the 5th Annual Joplin Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk in Downtown Joplin! Runners and walkers are encouraged to join us on Thanksgiving morning for what’s quickly becoming a family tradition for many. This CERTIFIED 5K course begins and ends right in front of Joplin City Hall on Main Street, which is closed to traffic. Participants of the 5K will enjoy a long sleeved race shirt, drawstring bag with logo, AMAZING FINISHER MEDAL, music by a professional DJ, Krispy Kreme donuts,  Ninja Narwhal coffee, and Caffix coffee. Club 609, across from the finish line, will be open just for our runners who want to have a Bloody Mary or other mixed drink before heading to Thanksgiving dinner. As Joplin’s largest 5K, this is a race you don’t want to miss!

Packet Pick-up:

Packet pick-up will be held at The Run Around (422 S Main) on November 23th from 10:00am-6:00pm. Late packet pick-up will be available on race day from 7:00 am - race start.

Course Description:

Flat, out and back course on pavement.

Chip Timing:

Chip timing provided for all registered 5K.

Long Sleeved Shirts:

5K participants registered by November 14 will be guaranteed a technical long sleeved race shirt. After November 14, shirts will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Those participating in the 1 Mile Fun Run have the option of adding a shirt to their registration for just $5 until Novemember 14.

Post-Race Goodies:

Runners will enjoy Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee.

Awards:

New this year: 5 year age category increments! Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female in the 5K. Age category awards will be given for the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+

DJ:

There will be professional DJ playing music and keeping runners informed during the event.

Photographer:

There will be a photographer on course capturing your finish. All photographs are free to download!

Race Day Registration:

Race day registration will be available from 7:00 am - race start. The registration fee will increase on race day by $5 for the 5K. The 1 Mile Fun Run will remain fixed at $15.

1 Mile Fun Run:

*This year, we are starting the 1 Mile Fun Run 30 minutes before the 5K so that parents who want to participate in the 5K have the opportunity to cheer their little ones across the finish. Fun Run participants under the age of 12 will receive a finisher's medal. All Fun Run participants will enjoy post-race snacks and festivities.

Virtual 5K Option Available!

Runners who can't attend race day can register for the Virtual 5K.  Virtual runners are not eligible for overall or age category awards. Transfers from actual to virtual will not be allowed after November 18. Virtual runner directions:

1. Run your virtual race distance anytime during the month of November.
2. On or after race day (November 24th), post your time result on either the Turkey Trot Event page or on your My Activities dashboard on LocalRaces.com.
3. Our staff will then mail the virtual race packet.
