 Run Like a Girl

in Memory of Sarah Burkybile

Run Like a Girl was created in 2012 in honor of an amazing woman, Sarah Burkybile. Sarah battled breast canncer at the young age of 26 for 5 years. Through it all she was so strong and such an inspiration to many. So, a group of her friends and acquaintances wanted to do something to honor her and keep her spirit alive. The money collected through this organization is obtained during a 5K and silent auction usually held the first Saturday in October. After the event, half of the money is given to Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO), an organization very dear to Sarah’s heart that helped her and many of her pink sisters out financially while going through chemo and battling this awful disease. The other half will go to a scholarship for local GHS senior students each year.

The race will begin on October 6th at 4pm with the Stephanie Cook 1 Mile Fun run along main street in Galena, KS.  The Sarah Burkybile Memorial 5k run/walk will follow after along route 66.
