About This Activity

Join us for a family fun-raising 5K event.

  • 5K walk/run ($20 fee includes T-Shirt & Cider Tasting)
  • Cider tasting and refreshments (Not participating in 5K? You can still enjoy the Cider Tasting for only $10!)
  • Children and adult stick horse derby. (Don't miss the fun! Support Promised Land E.C. with your $5 Entry fee for stick horse derby!)
  • Free Hayride-parking shuttle!

Stick Horse Derby:

5K race – The Apple Cider 5K starts out in the vicinity of the designated parking area for the 5K in the Moore township Recreation Center Rd off of E.Beersville Rd. The route continues through the beautifully maintained recreational center and through the lovely country of Moore township. The race end with a challenging hill which takes you past the fields of Promised Land and finishes at the events activity center entrance at the top of the hill.

Walk: Enjoy a 1 ½ mile walk on the well- groomed trails of the Moore township recreation center which will lead you to the property of Promised Land Equestrian Center. The Promised Land miniature horses will be on the walk to greet and encourage you along the way.

Parking for the event: Parking for the event will be in designated area of the Moore Recreation Center off the E. Beersville Rd. entrance.

Cider Tasting : Come enjoy the taste of fall! For a $10 donation you can delight your palate with different ciders and deserts of the season.

Stick Horse Race and Children Events: Family fun for a donation of $5.00 per person participating. Activities include Pumpkin painting, a scarecrow stuffing race and stick horse race. Run with your stick horse or borrow one of ours to race around the timed obstacle course set up in the Promised Land arena. Great opportunities for children to participate solo or with a group of friends. Gather a group of adults from work or your friends to form a team to run a rely or compete against each other. Raising much needed funds for a great cause while raising some fun friendly competition! 

Awards: There will be ribbons 1-3rd place for each age division in the 5K as well as medal for best time male and female runner. Each first place division winner will receive (choice of ) Promised Land wine glass, beer mug or water bottle.

First thru 3rd place ribbons will be given out for the stick horse race in each division

Promised Land Equestrian Center

Promised Land Equestrian Center is a nonprofit 501 ©3 organization founded in 2011, which provides Equine Assisted Activities and Therapy for children and adults. Promised Land consists of over 20 acres of beautiful farm land in Moore Township PA adjacent to the Moore Township recreation center. Currently Promised Land’s equine therapeutic team consist of 8 horses. Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies are conducted by PATH certified instructor Debra Yeager, who holds over 15 years of experience working with children and adults diagnosed with disabilities, over 25 years experience training horses, instructing Centered riding as well as a background in psychology and Biblical counseling. Christina Cox, a Path Registered Therapeutic Riding instructor, holds a BS & MS in Athletic Training from East Stroudsburg University. Christina's expertise is in Developmental Riding: integrating therapeutic and physical rehabilitation strategies (and her Athletic Training experience) into riding skill development. Each participant in our program is carefully evaluated in order to recognize strengths, needs and develop goals for individualized lessons which address physical, social, emotional and cognitive challenges.
