About This Activity

WE ARE BACK!!! The 3rd Annual Freedom of Flight 5K on the Runway will be at the Joplin Regional Airport on Saturday May 6th, 2017! Come out and run on the runway and taxiway of the Joplin Regional Airport to support Joplin's Freedom of Flight Museum! We will have a 5K and a 1 Mile fun run for the kids. This event will be chip timed by The Runaround. Packet Pick Up is Thursday and Friday from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.  Both days at the old Airport building.  Kyle Franklin will be doing our flyover on Saturday about 8:25 AM in his Waco, Dracula, Bi-Plane.  You don't want to miss it.

Freedom of Flight Museum

The Freedom of Flight Museum is a dedicated group of aerospace enthusiasts focused on stimulating an interest in aviation, history, space flight and technology in Joplin and the surrounding communities.

Our mission is to establish ourselves as an independent organization that will serve the public interest by providing:

  • Educational opportunities to area youth that will foster an interest in STEM subjects using aerospace related hands-on activities.
  • A museum that will work to acquire, restore, preserve and display aviation and spacecraft related artifacts.
  • Military service veteran recognition exhibits.
