About This Activity
The Yakima Humane Society will host the 13th Annual See Spot Run 5K on Sunday April 26th, 2015 at Sherman Park next to the shelter. Join over 500 animal enthusiasts showing their support for homeless pets while enjoying the great outdoors - not to mention, a bit of healthy fun! This is a great opportunity to get out with family and friends for some healthy competition or just enjoy the day in the park with community members who share your compassion for the animals in need. All proceeds from the event directly support the thousands of homeless cats and dogs that the shelter receives every year.
Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring their well-behaved dog to run or walk the race. All dogs must be licensed and current on their vaccinations and must be leashed at all times. For the safety of other runners, please do not use flexi or retractable leashes. Aggressive and female dogs in heat are strictly prohibited. Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs - baggies will be provided.
ARTWORK CONTEST Design the 2015 Race T-Shirt! We are seeking art submissions from community members of all ages, our goal is to have artwork that portrays a dog or dogs participating in this years 5K Race & Fun Run. Who wouldn't want to show off their artistic talents printed on over 500 Race T-Shirts?
GO THE EXTRA MILE Go the extra mile in the race against pet homelessness. You can support the thousands of pets that enter the shelter every year by gathering pledges from family, friends, neighbors, coworkers and just about anybody else you can think of. This is your chance to truly shine at being an animal advocate!
The pledges you gather will help us achieve our life-saving mission by providing ongoing care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and medical treatment for those precious homeless pets that come through our doors everyday.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three (3) pledge gathers who have really gone the extra mile in two separate divisions:
