About This Activity

Since 2011, RED DRESS RUN has been a spectacle of fun and charitable giving. It is an approximately 5K "Hash Run," organized by the Northboro Hash House Harriers Running Club, an affiliate of the international Hash House Harriers. The 2016 event is in Worcester, MA, and all net proceeds will be donated to local charities.

On a Hash Run, some lead runners, called "Hares," take a head start to mark a spontaneous course with flour and chalk. When the Hash Run starts, the other runners, known as "Hounds," will chase after the flour and chalk marks to try and snare the Hares.

RED DRESS RUN honors a Hasher in Long Beach, CA who attended her first Hash, in 1987 while wearing a Red Dress instead of running clothes.  After being mocked for wearing that, she ran the course anyway, and other hashers of both sexes were so impressed that they began wearing a red dress as a joke. Soon, red dress runs became a tradition for Hashers around the world.

Registration includes a hysterical 5K run, a fabulous t-shirt , a souvenir whistle, 4 drink tickets, dinner, and more!

The course for RED DRESS RUN is a closely guarded secret, but the Hares promise there will be three checkpoints to stop, take a drink, and socialize. Stopping at checkpoints is mandatory because the Hares will be there waiting for the last runner or walker to arrive before departing to continue marking the course. The course is not timed.

Event details and schedule

The 5K course is a secret, but it begins and ends at Three G's Sports Bar, 152 Milbury Street, Worcester, MA. Expect there to be some on-road and some off-road running. Show off your red dress and enjoy a cash bar starting at 12:00pm. The opening ceremonies start at 2:00pm, and you should expect to be on the course from approximately 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Don't miss the "Circle" ceremony after the run, at approximately 5:30pm - 6:00pm.

You must be 21+ years old, have proof of age, and be wearing a red dress to participate. Wear running shoes and be prepared to run or walk both on-road and off road on trails. The course is not timed, and everyone will wait for the last runner or walker at each checkpoint until the hares depart to continue marking the course.

RED DRESS RUN is hosted by the Northboro Hash House Harriers, a chapter of the International Hash House Harriers Runnng Club. 100% of net proceeds from the Red Dress Run will be donated to local charities.
