The Autism Impact Corporation (AIC) was formed to raise funds and awareness in support of the greater autism community of central WI. With these funds we will purchase supplies and services for the Autism community that cannot be provided for by traditional government / educational programs due to overly stretched budgets. Today, 1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. It occurs in all racial, ethnic, and social groups and is four times more likely to affect boys than girls.
Previously, our organization has supported a number of very important efforts:
-ACT Playground - This inclusive playground is designed to allow typically developing and disabled children to play together, side-by-side. Play is a critical socialization and learning skill for kids, and we have seen its successes first hand in aiding children on the autism spectrum.
-Project Lifesaver -This provided search and rescue capability to authorities for many on the spectrum from Marshfield to Wisconsin Rapids and throughout Wood County.
-Individual Therapy Services Grant - We provided a 4 grants to under or uninsured individuals with autism without access to therapy or who are unable to afford it. These very deserving people would otherwise go without the suport they desperately need.
-Group Therapy Services Grant - We provided a sizable grant to provide sensory therapies and therapy plans for kids with autism without access or who are unable to afford it.
-Jeremiah's Crossing - We have donated funds to this organiation so they may continue to offer therapeutic horse riding to children on the spectrum and others with special needs.
-Autism Support Group of Central Wisconsin - We are proud to support this wonderful group. They raise awareness and bring assistance through bringing in speakers as well as organizing trips to the movie theater and Ausome Karate for folks on the spectrum. Check them out at: http://www.autismsupportgroupofcentralwisconsin.com/index.html
-Technology Grants - AIC purchased technology which is then loaned out to individuals who can use it as part of their therapeutic services.
