About This Activity

Haulin' in the Holler is a 5K, 25K, 50K Trail Race and Kids Fun Run held in the foothills of West Virginia. This race has something to offer everyone of all ages and skill levels. Hills and trails easy enough for the beginner and challenging enough for the most advanced runners. This race is a partnership between the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners and Boy Scout Troop 164 of Eleanor, WV. All Proceeds from the race go to the Boy Scouts.  Come run with us and enjoy a weekend of camping, running and the hospitality of the Boy Scouts and the people of Eleanor who volunteer to make this race happen for the runners. A truly great race to begin your running season. 

Event details and schedule

Location
All races are held in Putnam County Park in Eleanor, WV. The races begin in the fairground area of the park and run through the hills beside and behind the park. Remember we are allowed to do this through the generosity of th Town of Eleanor and the land owners whose property half of the trails are on so please ,respect the owners and do not throw your trash on the trails. Take any trash with you until you come to an aid station to dispose of it properly. Littering on the trails could result in the loss of permission to use the trails and the end of our race.
 
Registration
50K registration is $60.00 from October 1, 2014 through February 14, 2015 then $70.00 until close of 50K registration March 7, 2015
25K registration is $45.00 from October 1, 2014 through February 14, 2015 then $55.00 until close of 25K registration March 7, 2015
5K registration is $35.00 from October 1, 2014 through February 14, 2015 then $40.00 until close of 5K registration March 20, 2015
Kids Fun Run registration is $8.00 from October 1, 2014 until close of Kids registration registration March 21, 2015
 
Entries for 25K and 50K races will not be accepted if postmarked after March 7, 2015.
There will be NO race day registration for any races except the Kids Fun Run.
No one under 18 can sign up for the 50K Ultra-run
 
Shirts
50K runners will receive long sleeve Patagonia silk weight shirts
25K runners receive short sleeve Patagonia silk weight shirts
5K runners and Kids Fun Run participants will receive short sleeve cotton t-shirts
 
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup for all races will be Friday March 20, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday morning from 6:30 AM until 7:15 AM
 
Race Start
25K and 50K races will start at 7:30 AM but all racers should report to start line by 7:15 AM for last minute race instructions
5K race will begin at 7:45 AM but all runners should report to start line by 7:30 AM for last minute race instructions
Kids Fun Run will begin at 9:00 AM
All races will begin beside the open barn in the fairground area of Putnam Park in Eleanor.
Finish Line will be in front of concession stand
 
Awards
Awards will be given to top 3 overall male and female in each race, top male and female in each age group, first overall male and female in Masters, Super Masters, Grand Masters, Military, and Veteran. 
Age Groups are 50K: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over
5K and 25K: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over
Kids Fun Run will not be  timed but all Children will receive finish award
In addition all participants who complete the race will receive finishers award.
All awards are unique handmade awards made by the Boy Scouts of Troop 164
 
Aid Stations
25K and 50K runners first aid station is around mile 6 and aid station 2 is around mile 10. For 50K runners aid 3 will be at start of 2nd loop. These aid stations will be stocked with chips, oranges, potatos, soft drinks, Sports Drink, Gels, Bananas, trail mix, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, M&Ms, and soup(aid 3 only).
5K will have one aid station aproximately half way through course with just Sports Drink and water
There will be a post race meal for all runners and volunteers of beginning at 10:00. Usually homemade soups by our own scouts as well as crackers, fruit, and cookies for after your run
