The Battleship Half Marathon & 5K is a picturesque and challenging half marathon and 5K that starts and finishes at the Battleship North Carolina. The Half Marathon course takes you over 2 bridges, tours downtown Wilmington, circles beautiful Greenfield Lake, and returns you to the Battleship with the highest point on the course at the peak of the Memorial Bridge overlooking the "Immortal Showboat" as you steam back to the finish line! The Port Land Grille Battlehship 5K is an out and back that takes you over one bridge. Two River Taxi boats and Trolley buses will transport you to the Battleship on race morning. Pre-race dinner is onboard the Battleship Saturday evening is closed out. A few dinners will be available for purchase at the Expo at the registration desk. There is a great post race party on the grounds of the Battleship overlooking downtown Wilmington after the race. All runners in both races receive a Free Ticket to Tour the Battleship. Last year over 2,000 athletes participated in the race and we donated $10,000 to our race beneficiaries.

RIVER TAXIS TO RACE START:
The USS Maffitt and the USS John Knotts provide River Taxi service to the Battleship start commencing at 6:00 am. The boats leave from the dock in back of the Hilton Hotel starting at 6:00 am. Only race participants with a race number will be allowed to take race transportation until after 8:00 am.
PRE-RACE DINNER ONBOARD THE BATTLESHIP:
Dinner is served 5:15 pm - 7:30 pm, Saturday Nov 1st. You'll eat in the same space that brave sailors did in WWII and it will be an experience you will remember. The food is excellent and catered by Middle of the Island. Menu will include penne pasta w/chicken, spaghetti w/meat sauce, salad, a side, Italian bread, sweet tea (It is the South) or water, with brownies for desert. Adults $19, children under 12 $14, toddlers free. DINNER IS CLOSED OUT AS OF 10/27/2014. A few dinners will be available for purchase at the registration table at packet pickup.
Shirts for the Half Marathon & 5K are long sleeved Zorrel blend tech shirts. They are very nice and durable. Half Marathon shirts have sleeve prints saying "Half Marathon". Shirts are guarantee to everyone registering before October 20th. We will order extra shirts but shirts are not guaranteed if you register after October 20th.
BATTLESHIP RACE EXPO & PACKET PICKUP:
Saturday, November 1st from noon - 6:00 pm at the Coastline Conference Center - www.nccoastalevents.com . The Center is 100 meters north of the Hilton Hotel on Nutt Street (same-same Water Street, just around the bend in the road) - notice the Locomotive on display at the raolroad museum and you are there. Packet Pickup will be easy and fun. There will be vendors, some of our sponsors showcasing their goods and sercices, and lots of interesting people. Budget some time to see the expo. It will be worth it, then tour beautiful downtown Wilmington and the River front.
RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP 6:00 am - 7:30 am:
Race day pickup your packet in the auditorium beside the Main Entrance to the Battleship. Take the ramp to the right of the wide stairs and go in the single door. Pick up your packet there. You can register race morning.
Half Marathon & 5K Awards go 3-deep in Overall, Masters and age groups through 70+. In the Half Marathon 1st Place M/F Overall and Masters receive running shoes courtesy of New Balance of Wilmington. Military Awards Category - Active Duty and Retired Military Awards go 3-deep M/F for a total of (12) awards.
PARKING DOWNTOWN ON RACE DAY:
Park downtown in Metered Spots on SUNDAY for free. You can also park in municipal decks for a small fee. One available Municipal deck is located on 2nd Street between Princess and Chestnut Streets. Another is located on Market street between Front and 2nd Street. Go to this website for all information about parking downtown.
PARKING AT THE BATTLESHIP IS VERY LIMITED:
The access road to the Battleship will close at 7:00 am sharp and will remain closed during the race. PLEASE park downtown and take the race transportation. It's quick, eacy and fun.
TROLLEY AND BUS PICKUP POINTS:
Catch the trolleys or buses in front of the Hilton Hotel or at the 2nd Street Municipal deck. You'll find more information about this on the 5 SRP website as well as information about other 5SRP races coming up.
TROLLEYS AND BUSES RUN UNTIL 1:00 PM. BOATS RUN CONTINUOUSLY.
The race will be timed by Precision Race using the Jaguar disposable chip system. You'll be able to verify your chip before you leave the expo, get printed results at the finish line, receive a text with your results as you cross the finish line, and see your results at finish area kiosks on a touchscreen or scrolling display - awesome stuff.

Join us for the best Half Marathon & 5k you'll find on the east coast. You'll be challenged and have a great race experience. There will be 6 water stops on the course staffed by our sponsors or volunteer organizations. You'll find enthusiastic fan support all along the course and be directed by our great volunteers. Then as you head up the Memorail Bridge toward the 12-mile point you'll be encouraged and uplifted by UNCW cheerleaders yelling for you. The final quarter mile takes you in front of the Immortal Showboat to a finish overlooking the Cape Fear River and downtown Wilmington - it's a truly unique race experience that you will always remember.
