About This Activity
Wild Canyon Games (WCG) at Lost Canyon, Arizona is unique. It combines running, biking, geocaching, kayaking, climbing, zip-lining, blobbing and more into a competitive team challenge. Athletes from every walk of life will join us April 25th-April 27th, 2014 at close to 7,000 feet elevation in the woods of Northern Arizona to Experience the Edge.
The Teams Each Lost Canyon WCG team is comprised of 6 members. Teams will work to earn points while competing in events ranging from a 15.5 mile mountain bike race through the Kaibab National Forest, to a zip-lining target shooting competition over our zip-line lake. The team that earns the most points by the end of the weekend will be crowned the 2014 Wild Canyon Games-Lost Canyon Champion.
Wild Canyon Games is more than just the best team-based athletic competition… Friday April 25th kicks off the Friday Nite Fest for all competitors/guests at Lost Canyon with a vendor fair and a great evening of bonding with teammates and fellow competitors. On Saturday night after the competition, competitors will enjoy dinner together and regale with other competitors about their feats that day!
RACE DAY: Wild Canyon Games is broken down into 3 phases of challenges & competition.
Saturday morning features two events:
TRIPLE RACE 4 of your 6 team members will compete in all out endurance effort. This includes a 15.5 mile mountain bike course, 9 mile trail run and a partner HIYAK competition. The HIYAK is 2 member team event where team mates will hike/run to the reservoir, about 1.5 miles away, kayak the reservoir together, and then get back into camp as fast as they can. We will be providing and staging kayaks for the teams. Did we mention this is all occurring simultaneously at 7,000 feet?? While 4 members of your team are competing in the Triple Race, the other 2 teammates will compete in a geocaching competition unlike any other.
GEOCACHING 2 of your 6 team members will embark on one of the most challenging geocaching grids in North America. We have hidden 100+ geocaches over a 10-mile grid throughout the wilderness to create an unmatched competitive geocaching experience.
THE CHALLENGE The second phase involves teamwork, strategy, and fun! Each team will pick between an array of team based challenges: the zipline, canyon swing, a high ropes course, blobbing, climbing wall, and events you will just have to see to believe. No doubt that these events will not only test your guts, but also your athleticism.
THE RELAY The third phase brings teams together for a fast paced and exciting relay! Leg One starts off with a Saddle Climb run/walk. Leg Two is a 200 yard tire drag, with Leg Three being a run through our one of a kind obstacle course. Leg Four is a 3 mile cycle sprint single track course, passing off to the Leg Five 1/8th mile kayak sprint across the zipline lake. The relay concludes with Leg Six, which features a steeplechase. The Relay concludes in the left of the Lost Canyon field, where our award ceremonies will take place.
