About This Activity

Step Up for Kids is a timed 5K run and memorial walk that benefits the Kansas Infant Death and SIDS Network. The 12th annual event will take place Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Wichita's Old Cowtown Museum. Registration includes a T-shirt, lunch, children's fair and admission to Cowtown, a living history museum of 1870s Victorian Wichita. The cost is $25 for adults and $12 for kids with a discount for early registration. Online processing fee is $3.25.

Event details and schedule

Step Up for KIDS invites individuals and teams to participate in the 5K and/or the memorial walk. Strollers and wheelchair are permitted.

For the memorial walk, participants are encouraged to walk around the town square in memory of all babies who have died too soon. Door prizes will be given away during the memorial walk. All registered participants (5K and walk) are eligible to win. You must be present to win.

Pre-registered participants may pick up their packets at the KIDS office, 1148 S. Hillside, Suite 10, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, April 10. Packets also will be available at check-in on the event day.

Event Day: Saturday, April 11

  • 7:30 a.m. 5K registration and packet pickup
  • 8:15 a.m. Memorial walk registration and packet pickup
  • 8:30 a.m. 5K begins
  • 9:15 a.m. 5K awards presented; explore Cowtown and children's fair
  • 10 a.m. Memorial balloon release and team award presented
  • 11 a.m. Lunch provided

A children's fair will run concurrent to the above events.

Note: Please no pets, alcoholic beverages or glass containers.

Teams can compete for the Grand Team Award by raising the most money. Participating teams must register under one team name, for example Reed's Runners.

5K: Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers as well as the top three male and female youth finishers. Oz Endurance will time the event.
Team: The Grand Team Award will to to the team that has raised the most money.

Reminder: Incomplete registration information, including the liability waiver, will exclude a participant from awards.

About the KIDS Network
The mission of the Kansas Infant Death and SIDS Network is to serve those who are or may be touched by the tragedy of infant death or SIDS by providing supportive services, community education and professional training and by supporting associated research.
