Imagine what your life would be like if you could not read. You would be missing out on one of life's most fundamental necessities. If you could not read, your innate curiosity would turn to frustration and discouragement. Children born with Dyslexia are faced with reading and writing roadblocks which can easily feel insurmountable.
Dyslexia cannot be cured, but it can be overcome. This year The Legacy School is holding its inaugural 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run to support its continued mission; "To meet the needs of the whole child helping to remediate each child’s language weaknesses."
Join us on Saturday, October 4th, lace up your sneakers, and have some fun with us, all while helping area children become successful life long learners. Afterwards enjoy the day at Oktoberfest with your free admission.
Check-in begins 9:30a.m. Same day registrations are welcomed but please come a few minutes earlier. The scenic course starts and finishes from the Agriculture Center in Westminster and runs through the Ag Center and Farm Musuem grounds. Runners start first, then walkers. Young children in strollers and wagons are welcome at no charge but will travel the course at the rear of the crowd. Registrants will receive a race tech t-shirt and free entry into the Oktoberfest Festival. Medals awarded to overall male and female winners as well as top 3 winners in each age/gender category.
Proceeds to benefit the The Legacy School. Funds generated allow the Legacy to continue to serve children in 1st-8th grades who have Dyslexia and related language based learning differences. Sun or rain, the event is October 4th with no rain date. Come out and race a teacher and enjoy the day afterwards at Oktoberfest!
Plenty of parking at the Agriculture Center.
