Event: The third annual race features a 4 mile run around beautiful Bangs Lake in Wauconda, IL, as well as a 2 mile fun run/walk down Main Street and around Cook Park. It will be family-friendly
Date & Time: Saturday, April 19th, 2014 start time 9:00am for the 4 mile and 2 mile routes. The awards ceremony will be at 10:15AM, with the program completed by 10:30.
Course: The 4 mile race will start at the Wauconda Area Library and go around Bangs Lake through neighborhoods. The course is hilly and challenging, yet scenic. It ends in Cook Park. The 2 mile fun run starts at the library and goes around Cook Park.
Organizers: StarRunners, a division of the non-profit STAR (Sharing Time and Resources) is organizing the event. Chris Rueb (Race Director) and Glenn Starkey (Event Chair) are the two coordinators for the event. They each are involved in various organizations and businesses in the Wauconda area.
Beneficiaries: All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Friends of the Wauconda Area Library.
Amenities: All participants will receive a goody bag, which will contain an event T-shirt, a list of sponsors and a variety of health-related items. Trophies (in the shape of bunnies) will be awarded to the first and second place overall male and female contestants, as well as the first and second place winners in 5 year age categories. While competitive runners compete for results and trophies, also added is a best costume award to maintain a fun and recreational atmosphere.
