About This Activity

The 5K for a Kidney held at Oconee Veterans Park in Watkinsville, GA will benefit COTA.  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national 501(c) charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In Oconee, volunteers are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like Sara. Sara is currently a student at Oconee County High School. Born on February 16, 1998, Sara was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. The doctors at Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, have recommended a lifesaving kidney transplant. With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. All proceeds will go directly to COTA.
