About This Activity
The Sakatah Challenge - 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run and 11 mile ride are in the Sakatah State Park. This park is truly one of Minnesota’s most beautiful parks. Join us for a fun day whether you are doing the 5K, 10K, or 11 mile ride or challenging yourself with the bike-run combo.
The original 5k challenge: The one that started it all! The first 1/4 mile takes you along the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail before you dive off-road. The next mile and a half is a challenging yet beautiful off road trail through the Sakatah old growth forest. You then loop back onto the Singing Hills Trail finishing your run with views of the Sakatah Lake off to your right. This is a timed event.
The alternative 5k: When off road running is not for you, this is an easier more leisurely option. The alternative 5k is an out and back on the paved Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail through the beautiful Sakatah old growth forest. This event IS NOT timed.
The 10k follow the road around Lake Sakatah. Just before the 4th mile the 10k goes off road for a ¼ mile before connecting you with the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail and dive deep into the heart of the park finishing the last leg of your run surrounded by the beautiful green forest. This is a timed event.
The 11 mile bike ride follows the road around Lake Sakatah then continues east up a long steady hill for the first 7 miles. Before looping back and connecting with the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail. Helmets are required to ride in this event. This is not a race, however, official times will be given.
11 mile bike & 5K combo event: For the true challenge seeker! Start off with the 11 mile bike around Lake Sakatah, then set out through the old growth forest for the 5K Challenge. (See descriptions)
T-shirt, swag bag, and participation medal included with registration prior to May 28th. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers for each race. Excluding the alternative 5K. Combo participants will be awarded based on best combo time. Like us on Facebook to receive event updates!
