About This Activity

Race for American Psychological Association (APA) Convention participants, their friends, and their families on Satruday August 9th at 7AM.

Out and back on the scenic Canal Tow Path in Georgetown.  This is a paved path (Capital Crescent Trail.)  Start and end will be at bottom of hill next to Potomac River. (Better location than the last time we used this venue (no gravel.)


Open top three male and female 5k run and 5k walk.

Masters over 40 top male and female 5k run and 5k walk

Under 15 top three male and female 5k run

5 year age groups top three male and female 15 to 69 5k run

70 and over top three male and female 5k run

Event details and schedule

Prior to race.  Register on-line at Active.com You can also register on-line at the Running Psychologist booth next to Divsion Services at the APA convention in the DC Convention Center.  Pick up your number and shirt at Running Psychologists’ booth.  Hours are: Wednesday, Aug 6th noon to 5PM Thursday Aug 7th 9AM to 5PM and Friday August 8th from 9 AM to 4PM:

Race Day.  Starts at 7AM.  There is plenty of parking.  There will be shuttle buses.  Bus information for APA convention attendees will be at the Running Psychologist's Booth in the convention left and we will send out email the Friday before.   There will be an early return bus back to the hotels for people who need to attend workshops.  This bus should get participants back to their hotels before 8:30AM.

After Race.  Awards can be picked up after the event at the Running Psychologist's booth on Saturday until 5PM.  Results will be at the booth late Saturday, on active.com, and on the Running Psychologists' Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/278145562205593/?fref=ts


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  We need a few volunteers who will not be running the race and two bus captains. who can run  If you would like to volunteer please contact Nancy Aiken at naiken@associated.org.
