About This Activity

  • BDR EARTH DAY FUN RUN was created to raise funds for the BDR SOLAR SCHOOLS FOUNDATION, a 501 (3c) non-profit foundation created in memory of Brian D. Robertson, who died at 38, piloting his plane to Newtown, PA for Christmas, 2011. Brian, was a solar pioneer who created and lead three major solar companies across North America. The foundation was created to introduce students to solar power by having a total of 20,000 solar energy systems installed at K-12 schools across the nation by 2020. The "20/20 Vision of Solar in America" will put solar electricity within reach of millions of students across the country, a goal that embodies Brian's belief that education is critical in developing a green energy economy and strengthening our nation's future.
  • 50% of the proceeds raised from this run will go towards the BDR SOLAR SCHOOLS FOUNDATION. The remaining 50% of the proceeds will go towards our community's local organizations.
  • The event is not only a family walk/run (1 mile), a 5K, and a 10K (for the more avid runner) but a day dedicated to Earth Day activities and awareness. Local sponsors and other local community organizations will have tents with many family friendly (all ages) activities pertaining to Earth Day.

Brian's sister Julie (and her husband and their three children, his parents (David and Donna),  his wife (Eileen) and their three children will be hosting the event.
