About This Activity
Join us for an 9-week training program that will help you cross the finish line of your very own 5K! Designed with the beginner runner in mind, this gradual, walk/run program will help you reach your goal of running 3.1 miles.
Virtual Program Option: Complete program on YOUR time and train when it's convenient for YOU! At the end of the 9-week program, you will map out your own 5K route via MapMyRun (we'll show you how). You'll run the route, upload it to the page, and be awarded an awesome finisher's certificate! Cost is $50 for 9-week program and includes team tech shirt, magnet and finisher's certificate.
In-Person Program Option: Join us for weekly meet-ups (Saturday morning, 7:30 am) at the Ridgewood Duck Pond. In-person option includes Spring/Summer membership to Jersey Women Strong through August 31, 2018. Training will prepare you for the Women's Distance 5K, July 14, 2018, Rockland Lake, NY. This flat, scenic and beginner friendly course will be the perfect cap to your training! Please note, race entry fee is NOT included with training program registration. How does the program work?
With registration, you'll receive a detailed written training program and access to our private Facebook page, which will serve as your virtual training space and support group. Sharing your personal experience and hearing the struggles and successes of fellow program participants are instrumental in keeping you motivated and on target to reach your goal. Enjoy weekly Facebook Live check-ins with Coach Dana, along with unlimited email support.
Workouts will be posted weekly and are designed for individuals with limited to no running experience. In addition, daily Facebook support will include wellness-related information, nutrition tips and motivational posts, along with unlimited question/answer opportunities.
What is the time requirement? You will be given three walk/run workouts per week and are encouraged to work in cross-training when you can. Walk/run workouts take no more than 40 minutes.
Training begins Monday, May 14th, 2017 and runs 9 consecutive weeks. Please note, in-person option will have a kick-off workout Saturday, May 12th, 2018.
In-Person program will meet Saturdays, 7:30 am, Ridgewood Duck Pond.
