The 2016 Polar Bear 5k Run/Walk is an event to benefit the Wadesboro Police Department’s Shop With a Cop program. This program helps positively change the lives of children in our local community by providing them with Christmas presents that they otherwise may not have received. 100% of all proceeds from this event will go towards this program. Each year the amount of gifts each child is able to receive depends entirely on money donated by the community, and raised through special events such as this one.
Christmas is all about being filled with the spirit of giving, and we here at the Town of Wadesboro and the Wadesboro Police Department want to bring that spirit to our community. The Town of Wadesboro wants this to be both a rewarding and fun event, and everyone is encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Christmas character. We hope to see a bunch of elves, polar bears and cubs, and reindeer running in our 5k race. Wearing normal attire instead of a costume is optional!
This year is the 4th Annual Polar Bear race and we hope that it is even better than the previous years. This year, we're excited to announce that Coca-Cola has come on board as our event partner. To date, over $5,000.00 in Christmas gifts have been donated to over 70 kids right here in our community because of the support of our running community. We hope that you will join us again this year and help us continue to give during this year's Christmas season.
