About This Activity
The Vineland Youth Running Club (VYRC) is for children in the Greater Vineland area ages 6-14 interested in being coached in track/cross country. This is an affordable and accessible alternative to other participation sports and practices are held just 2-3 times a week. The Spring Session lasts 8 weeks and prepares kids to run or run/walk their first 5K road race. The Fall Session is 5 weeks and will build upon the skills learned in the Spring. New members joining in the Fall will spend those 5 weeks learning fundamentals in their own group and building up toward a race goal that fits their capabilities.
Fall: October 4 - November 7
Practices will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the track at Romano Sports Complex. Registration is $65 and includes a shirt and free entry to 2 races on the Second Capital Running Fall Roster (tbd). In the first week of practices, the children will be assessed and sorted based off of performance and ability. In the following weeks they will be worked with and trained to improve their athletic confidence and develop a love of running. An optional third practice day on the weekends will be open to those runners with a larger interest in training to participate in local races during and after the Fall Session.
*Though children will not be required to wear masks, Social Distancing measures will be in place. This club is sponsored by Second Capital Running and operated with help from the Run Vineland Crew, Vineland’s all ages running group.
