This weekend of mountain trail races is a celebration of the great outdoors, a test of personal stamina, and an opportunity for every competitor to experience the "victory" of finishing their chosen race(s), regardless of distance. Athletes who participate in both a run AND bike event receive a special "Victor's Prize" to commemorate their weekend accomplishments. Post-race meal, technical t-shirt, and Victory Races medallion to all finishers.

Early September in the Colorado mountains is gorgeous. The leaves have yet to turn and the mountains are still green. . .maybe a hint of white at most will be seen on the highest peaks. Daytime temperatures are perfect for athletic endurance events, not too hot and not too cool.

Last year's trail race weekend took place on on this same post-Labor Day weekend under sunny skies. . . until about 5 PM. Afternoon showers are common this time of year so pack a a protective rain shell or Gore-Tex garment. While daytime temps are likely to be perfect, early mornings can be brisk and nights border on chilly. So plan to layer and don't forget a lightweight hat and gloves; a headlamp or flashlight is required for VIC ULTRA athletes.
This trail race weekend brings expanded course options and multiple race distances for both our Victory run and bike events (26M & 52M MTB). In addition to the Vail Victory Trail Marathon Run on Saturday, there will be a half marathon option this year as well as a shorter 5 mile run / hike. Walkers and families are encouraged on the 5 mile course and we have a special youth rate as well. Our longest event is the new Vail Victory 50 Mile Ultra Endurance Run (aka VIC ULTRA).
Course Description: All events take place on well-marked DIRT ROADS & TRAILS with ample aid stations along the way. Runners and bikers compete on the same Victory course, just on different days. Trail run events scheduled on Saturday and mountain bike race(s) are on Sunday.
Dirt road, single track trail with sweeping views of the Vail Valley make it all worthwhile. Long stretches of road and trail surrounded by Lodgepole Pines & Aspen groves, offering both shade and panoramic vistas. Actual course subject to final venue (tbd).
Drop Bags, Crew Support, & Pre-Race Mtg for VIC ULTRA Runners:
Mandatory pre-race meeting for VIC ULTRA runners on Friday, Sept 5th at 6 PM.

START/FINISH area drop bags can be dropped off Saturday morning before the race start and accessed midway through the race (at mile 26), as well as at the finish. ON-MTN drop bags will be collected Friday night during the pre-race meeting and available Saturday 2x on course. Crew support allowed, but only after mile 26 and only at designated locations determined by accessibility (more info to follow).
