This is our 3rd yearly charity event to help raise money to fix our aging field. The Moody Miracle League is a charitable organization that provides individuals with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. There is something about playing the game of baseball that lights up a player’s eyes, but for individuals facing mental and physical challenges, that opportunity can often be difficult. The Moody Miracle League gives these individuals the opportunity to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the game of baseball in its purest form. The Moody Miracle League was the first in the State of Alabama and serves players of all ages in St. Clair, Etowah, Jefferson, Shelby, Talladega, Blount, and Calhoun counties.
The Miracle League surface is made up of a custom designed, cushioned synthetic turf that accommodates wheel chairs and other walking assistance devices. The stadium restrooms are completely accessible to people with disabilities. The dugouts are designed so wheelchairs can easily make their way to and from home plate.
The field is now over 15 years old and has several areas that have deteriorated over time making it difficult for players to easily make their way to and from home plate. (See pictures below.)
It is our mission to replace the aging field in order to meet the needs of all of our disabled players. Our goal is to raise money to keep repairs up on the field and to eventually replace this custom synthetic turf so our players can make those home runs they deserve, so we hope that you will be able to register for this event.
