Work off your high caloric Thanksgiving over indulgence with a great 3+ (or thereabouts) mile run on the trails, grass & campus around the Trumbull High-Agricultural Center. No traffic, gentle hills, & maybe some mud & slush if Mother Nature cooperates.
Our 'Brown' themed run includes brown cotton long sleeved shirts, brown(ies),other good food, some crazy prizes & leftovers from at least 15 other races (and maybe from some tag sales). Basically it's anything we can find to keep costs down and have some fun. AND WE WILL HAVE THE COW KEY CHAINS THAT POOP WHEN YOU SQUEEZE THEM.
Last year the ages of participants ranged from 8 to 83! Wear your old running shoes if you are concerned about such things.
This year we are again part of the CT USATF Cross Country Series. Believe it or not this event was once voted "One of the most unique races in CT" by some very interesting people who regularly dress as cows & other brown mammals.
Our proceeds will be given to Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer in the name of Mia McCaffrey. Any extra ca$h benefits the THS Girls Cross Country team.
It is with a heavy heart that we dedicate a portion of the proceeds of the Cow Chip Cross Country in the name of forever 6 year old Mia Rose McCaffrey, to Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer. Mia was as brave and strong as she was caring and beautiful. Pediatric Cancer stole this little girl from us all and we will use this event to #MakeItAmazing in her name. Pediatric Cancer Research only receives 4% of the national cancer research funding. Infinite Love for Kids Cancer is a foundation that is dedicated to raising funds to improve the quality and quantity of treatment options for Childhood Cancers. This year they are committed to raising $200,000 to invest in research specific to Rhabdomyosarcoma, the form of cancer that Mia battled. Through your registration, optional donation, and/ or sponsorship you are helping people, you are educating people, and you are providing people with the most precious thing one person can give another – HOPE! Thank you for being a part of the solution with us! Co- director Jim McCaffrey
