ROCK ROAD 50/50 RACE INFORMATION and FAQ

The Rock Road 50/50 is a heart pounding high adrenaline Gravel Road Race. The race starts and finishes at Beautiful TIMBER RIDGE RESOST in Traverse City, adjoining the world famous VASA trail system.  There will be two distances to choose from, either 50 miles or 50K.

AWARDS

  • Awards will be given for the top five men and women finishers in each event 

TEAM AWARD

  • For each the 50 Mile and the 50K will be awarding a team winner for each event. You can have an unlimited number of team members and we will score the top three times for each team and crown the winnign team with the lowest combined time of the top three finishes. Winning gets you engraved on the trophy and braggin rights for a year. YOU MUST ENTER A TEAM NAME FOR US TO SET YOU FOR THE TEAM SCORING COMPETITION.

ROCK ROAD 50K RACE ROUTE:

Is made up of 50 Kilometers of heart pounding pedal pushing high adrenaline gravel roads. The race will start at Timber Ridge Resort and run counter clockwise around the world Famous VASA 25K loop and just past “THE ROCK” will meet with Sand Lake Road. From Sand Lake Road head East crossing over Williamsburg Road to Broomhead Road. At Broomhead Road turn north and experience some hard packed super fast downhill gravel expect to reach speeds of over 35MPH…but what goes down eventually goes back up. Heading East on the glorious paved section of Deal Road take a few jogs through a Subdivision through the enchanted forest before the climb up Dockery Road Heading South back to Sand Lake Road. Hang a right, head West back to timber Ridge.

Hang a right, head west to slingshot around the moon (Sand Lake Road and Broomhead Road) to circle around the lolli pop loop one more time before heading back to Timber Ridge.

Routes may change slightly due to County Road work and road conditions, an official route map will be published prior to race day.

GETTING HERE

Flights can be booked directly into the Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport (TVC).

Approximate drive times from major cities:

  • Detroit – 3.5 hours
  • Grand Rapids – 2.5 Hours
  • Chicago – 5 hours
  • Indianapolis – 7 hours
  • Green Bay – 7 hours

LODGING

TIMBER RIDGE is a beautiful campround and has sites for tents and any size RV, they also rent cabins. For campground information please call Timber Ridge at  877-978-3866 or go to www.timberridgeresort.net. There is limited availability; call early.

If Timber Ridge is full Traverse City has a number of other hotel, motel and camping options, check out the Traverse City Visitors Bureau for more lodging information. Traverse City is a beautiful tourism-driven town; please note that hotels and campgrounds fill quickly.

You can have your bike shipped directly to Einstein Cycles (www.EinsteinCycles.com or 231-421-8148). For $50 Jason and the team will have it assembled and ready to race.

CAN I PRE-RIDE THE COURSE? Yes. The course is laid out on country roads and public land and is open to riding, hiking, and cross-country skiing all year long

IS THERE A MAP OF THE COURSE? Yes, look for one this summer to be posted on our web site

WHERE CAN I PARK AND IS THERE PARKING FOR SPECTATORS? Overnight guests of Timber Ridge can park on site. Parking is FREE but is limited.

ARE THERE GOOD PLACES TO SPECTATE ON THE COURSE? Yes, there are several places to see friends and family on the course.

CAN I TRANSFER MY REGISTRATION? Yes, registered riders may transfer their registration for $25 and must do so by September 1st
