About This Activity

The 1st annual TK 5K Walk/Run for Pulmonary Fibrosis will be in honor of Thomas Kin, a Tiffin native, our spouse and father, who passed away last June 2013 at the age of 55 from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a fast progressing and terminal disease that causes the lungs to fill with scar tissue, causing patients to gradually lose the ability to breathe. Currently there is no FDA approved treatment or cure, with 40,000 people dying annually (the same amount of fatalities as breast cancer).

Proceeds from this event support the Coaltion for Pulmonary Fibrosis, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that strives to “accelerate research efforts leading to a cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis, while educating, supporting, and advocating for the community of patients,
families, and medical professionals fighting this disease”. The Coalition has already assisted tens of thousands of patients through educational programs, support groups, and resource programs, as well as directly funding over $2M in research on PF. Your participation and/or donation would help in furthering the fight against Pulmonary Fibrosis and hopefully, one day assist in finding a cure. Thank you!!
