About This Activity

The Assenmacher 100 is a recreational and social fun bicycle ride through the farmland and villages of mid-Michigan. Started in 1980, it has become one of Michigan's premier century rides and has been endorsed by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports. It is held each year on the third Sunday in August. With routes of 20, 34, 56, 66, and 100 miles, there are courses for experienced cyclists as well as the casual rider.

Anyone who hikes 100 miles on the North Country Trail during the calendar year of 2016, in aggregate or all at once, will be eligible for a special patch and certificate.

Fife Lake Michigan is a quaint community located in the heart of the northern Michigan Forest.  It is part of the scenic 21 mile NCT – Fife Lake Loop Trail.  It’s a perfect sized loop for a weekend get-a-way for backpackers and is also a great place for winter activities such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.  Hikers and backpackers will enjoy scenic views, serenity of the forest, streams and the Manistee River. Hikers who appreciate the serenity of the forest, streams and the Manistee River will enjoy this area of the North Country National Scenic Trail.  This portion of the trail is maintained by the Grand Traverse Hiking Club.
