That Dam Race 5k Run/Walk
Sat, Jul 19, 2014
About This Activity
One of the toughest road climbs you will make in West Virginia. The course begins under the backdrop of the magnificent Sutton Dam at the Downstream Recreation Area. Participants then have a strenuous climb up the face of the dam and then across the top of the dam. Then the course takes them on a trip through the woods and back down to the Elk River. Then, participants hit the brick paved streets of historic downtown Sutton past many beautiful, majestic buildings. The finish line is nearly in sight as participants head back up river with the dam in the distance. The race ends back at the Downstream Recreation Area where it began. "That Dam Race" is held us a fundraiser for Back Pack programs in the area. Back pack programs supply food to needy children during times when other food sources are unavailable. It's estimated that 83,000 children in West Virginia are food insecure. Come out to support a great cause and challenge yourself to that dam hill!
After the 5k, a kid's race will be held for children 10 and under.
The race will begin at 8:00 AM sharp at the South Abutment of Sutton Dam in Sutton, WV. Parking is available on-site and you should arrive between 7:30-7:45AM.
All participants must have completed the waiver form either online or in-person.
