About This Activity
RUN FOR A CAUSE The Park to Park Half Marathon and One Miler is a USA Track and Field sactioned event. The flat 13.1 mile run route takes runners through the parks and streets of Sulphur, Louisiana.
It all started running for Jimbo. A group of woman runners calling themselves the SPAR Stars were training for half marathon when one of their husbands was diagnosed with cancer. Rather thatn travelling to un out of town, the SPAR Stars decided to "Run for Jimbo" and raise money for his family. The event was supported within the community and is now a fundraiser for other organizations and families.
This year's beneficiary is Deb Boyles, whom is fighting breast cancer, and Sulphur High School Cross Country Team. All proceeds from the one miler will benefit Deb Boyles' Kick the Cancer fund. SHS Cross Country Team has been volunteering along the route since 2010.
