3/4/48 Stamford Loop Challenge August 24th & 25th!
"Stamford’s Greatest Race"
The “Loop" is inspired by Former Navy Seal David Goggins, one of the most physically and mentally tough humans to ever walk this planet. You may have heard of him from the book "Living with a Seal". A serial entrepreneur (Jesse Itzler) hired David to come live with him and his family for 30 days to effectively shake up his life of abundance, convenience and comfort.
David pushed Jesse for 30 days to get way out of his comfort zone and take on physical challenges that allowed Jesse to build his mental toughness. The victory for Jesse and the message for all of us is that if we change our perspective about perceived obstacles, what we think stands in our way and allow ourselves to be vulnerable we prove we are capable of way more than we think. We end up much more satisfied and fulfilled. Working through obstacles determines what is possible. Growth and courage live on the other side of discomfort and vulnerability.
I put this race together for a couple reasons.
First, to commit to something way out of my comfort zone. The idea of the race gives me an uneasy feeling and I question if I can do it. But I’m channeling that fear into the effort to prepare and commitment to getting it done.
I want to give you the opportunity to challenge yourself also.
My life is mostly filled with convenience, comfort, and abundance. I am pretty darn fortunate to have all that my family and I do. I could stand to be more grateful for how easy life actually is. I want to do something that is far from easy for me and requiring lots of mental and physical fortitude. You to may forgotten how good you have it also and need a real challenge.
Second and most importantly: There are kids in Stamford who have been dealt a bad hand and you could use a hand so that they can at least, have equal opportunity to succeed. Hundreds of kids right here in Stamford live with extraordinary traumas, death or incarceration of a parent, abuse, poverty, domestic violence, housing instability, gang violence and more. They all deserve Love.
Domus Kids provides that love, support and some much more. Domus supports local kids with tailored educational opportunities, skill building programs and all the love and social support a kid would need to have an equal chance to build a life filled with success and accomplishment. 100% of the money raised goes to Domus.
Here's what the 3/4/48 is
3 miles Every 4 hours for 48 hours.
The math: 13 3-mile runs = 39 miles in 48 hours. You can do all 13 or just 1 or anything in between!!!
But, …. It’s all about challenging yourself and designed so anyone can do it, no matter what your current fitness level is. You can do as few or as many of the 3 miles loops as you want, it’s all up to you.
