Flying Mullet 5K and One Mile Doggie Dash
Fri, Oct 10, 2014
St. Petersburg, FL
About This Activity
Take a run through history and catch a glimpse of coastal Florida the way it used to be – and in Gulfport, the way things still are. Gulfport, a town built by fishermen, offers runners a chance to run through vintage Florida neighborhoods. The 5K will wind through downtown's Historic Waterfront District, running past the reigning Mullet King's home. Many fishermen – including our king – once earned their living netting mullet, a vegetarian fish that's quite the oddity in the fish world. Doggie Dashers will thrill at the proximity of the dog park as well as the town's dog-friendly bars and restaurants. All runners get a free post-race drink in the Art District after the run. Kick off your weekend with a run that lets you take in the quirky seaside charm of the town that time forgot!
