About This Activity

Event details and schedule

Join us for the 2nd Annual HOT RUN 5k & 10k on Thursday evening, October 2 at the Hurricane Restaurant in the Historic Pass-A-Grille section of St. Pete Beach.

You will be running on a TOTALLY FLAT street course that will take you north on Gulf Way along the beach to a turn-around point just past 15th Ave, back south past the Hurricane to 1st Avenue to a second turn-around point, back north on Gulf Way to 8th Avenue, east to Pass-A-Grille Way, north to 9th Avenue, west to the intersection of Gulf Way = one loop.

1 Loop = 1.55 miles
2 Loops = 3.1 miles = 5K
4 Loops = 6.2 miles = 10K

With a 7:00 pm start time and a 7:15 pm sunset over the Gulf, the transition from day to dusk to night will provide different lighting conditions, and therefore, different visual elements, with each passing minute.

The HOT Run 5k/10k will feature 3 “HOT ZONES” which you will pass by 2 times each per loop, a total of 12 times during the 5K and 24 times during the 10K. You will be within earshot of HOT music for nearly the entire race. Afterwards, once the sun sets and the lights are out, the party begins at the Hurricane!

Download your pictures after the race ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

Bring your friends and family members, as they will be able to truly "spectate" at this race, seeing you pass by multiple times during each loop.

All athletes completing either race will earn a custom HOT Run finisher medal, measuring 3" across, to note your accomplishment.

After the races, the Hurricane Restaurant will host the post-race party and HOT RUN awards celebration, with a seafood spread unmatched anywhere, ice-cold beverages, and entertainment provided by Radio Station HOT 101.5!

Entrants who register online receive confirmation via Active.com auto-responder. Entrants who register by mail, your cancelled check will serve as your confirmation. Athletes will not receive confirmation via regular mail.

Please enter your e-mail address on your entry form so that we can forward race updates to you. As this is our primary source of communication to our athletes, please add FLRoadRaces@gmail.com to your address book, so that our updates do not get trapped in your spam filters.

High-tech, short -sleeve Zorrel shirts are guaranteed to all entrants.

Florida's weather in early October will be warm, so please make sure you are properly hydrated with water. We intend to stage this race rain or shine. However, if inclement weather forces a postponement, we will seek an alternate date to be announced.

All our races are sanctioned and insured through USATF for runners, joggers, and walkers ONLY. Athletes with strollers are NOT allowed to participate.

Both courses will be precisely measured and documentation provided according to USATF requirements, certifying our courses as accurately measured.

All official results will be based on "Gun Time" as per USATF rules. Chip times will be posted for our athletes' review, but NOT used for scoring.

Headphones of any type are now allowed at USATF sanctioned events, but are discouraged due to safety concerns, not only during the actual race, but as importantly, while athletes are training in an uncontrolled environment. Individual races may impose their own regulations, but we don't, as it would be nearly impossible to enforce.

Are welcome in all of our events and encouraged to participate. Walkers in our 10K Race expecting to finish slower than a 15-minute per mile pace may be asked to walk on the sidewalks so that roads can re-open to traffic.

5K and 10K AWARDS
Custom HOT Run medals will be provided to all finishers in both the 5K and 10K races.

Age group awards offered three deep in standard 5-year increments in each race.

Custom acrylic awards for M/F overall (three deep), masters (40+) champion and grandmasters (50+) champion

Bib and packet pick-up location and times will be announced via email.

The Hurricane Restaurant is hosting this race. It is located at 809 Gulf Way, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706 - please use mapquest if you are unfamiliar with the area.

The Hurricane is located on the southernmost section of St. Pete Beach. Coming from the Gulf Beaches, head south on Gulf Boulevard to Pass-A-Grille Way, west on 22nd Avenue to Gulf Way, south towards the Hurricane. Coming from the I-275, exit at SR-682 via Exit 17 toward Pinellas Bayway / St. Pete Beach. Please note: if you park south of 16th Avenue on Gulf Way, you will NOT be able to leave until 8:45 pm, as you will be parked right along the course.
