About This Activity
Safe Harbor is a 24/7 residential, faith-based ministry providing holistic care to women recovering from the effects of trauma and substance abuse. We serve women who have experienced any number of traumas, including human trafficking, sexual abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, and incarceration. (To learn much more about our mission and program, visit our website at www.safeharborhouse.org.) Our theme for 2016 is SHINE, which comes from Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Sitting at the feet of wise experts with experience beyond our own, we have learned much about trauma-informed care since taking in our first resident in 2012. Our passion has grown beyond restoring dignity and fostering healing among survivors to include prevention efforts and community education as well. We have realized it is not enough to provide these precious women with an incubator for healing for 1-2 years - having safe and informed communities to return to when they leave us is just as imperative. This passion to equip service providers, community leaders, pastors and lay persons has birthed the Safe Habor Equipping Conference. We simply desire to share the wealth of wisdom we have benefitted from in the realms of trauma, trafficking, and addiction.
The Conference includes an entire weekend of equipping opportunities for you. Check out our Facebook and EventBrite pages to learn more about each component - the Prayer Walk & 5K, both happening on Thursday evening, benefit concerts on Friday evening, conference workshops on Saturday, and "Safe Harbor Sunday" taking place on Sunday morning at various local faith congregations. We welcome your participation in any and all of these events! Please contact email@example.com with any questions you may have about any part of the Equipping Conference weekend.
