About This Activity

Come join us for the annual Emily's Smile Box Day! We will start the day with the educational "I did it for Jude" Pediatric Stroke Walk/Run. This fantastic 5k will be a race through the woods so please prepare for some off road terrain. We will cut off the race at 500 participants. This year the race event will be chipped and timed! We will have assigned age groups and medals and trophies will be given out according to placement. The first three males and first three females in each group will receive a medal.

0-11 - Top child

Top Female

Master Male - 40+

Master Female - 40+

Grand Master Male - 50+

Grand Master Female - 50+

After the race we will have the awards presentation. For those interested we will then make up to 300 Emily's Smile Boxes to benefit local pediatric hospitals. We will request for volunteers to help drop the boxes off. Following the above events we will enjoy snacks, bounce houses, game trucks, and a balloon pop. Everything is provided free of cost with the exception of the race and the balloon pop. However you do not have to participate in the race to participate in the Emily's Smile Box Day. The race will be low cost and will include a T shirt! 

Emily's brother Jude passed away on 4/9/2016 from complications of pneumonia and the stroke. Please come out this year to celebrate his life with us. Commemorative T shirts and Medals will be available in his honor.

Pediatric strokes are one of the leading causes in death children. Remember to think FAST.......

  • F = Face: Is their face drooping? Can they make a smile? 
  • A = Arm: Can your child hold their arms out straight in front of them?
  • S = Speech: Have your child talk to you. Is their speech slurred?
  • T = Time: Time is of the essence when it comes to outcome.

Also the below are possible. One or more of these symptoms may present itself.

  • Vomitting and disorientation
  • Loss of vision
  • Dizziness
  • Painful headache
  • New onset of seizures
  • Fever
  • Weakness on one side


Event details and schedule

Packet and Bib Pick Up. First 100 to pick up their packets will receive a swag bag. Pick up will be at The Nationwide insurance Agency in Grapevine TX  at 1615 W Northwest Hwy on Thursday 9/22 from 5:30 - 8:30PM and Friday 9/23 from 5:30 - 8:30pm. We will try to guarantee your T shirt size but we encourage early birds to make sure you get the right size.

Wear active clothes and it will be warm so dress accordingly, parking will be in a field close to the event to the right hand side there will be a sign, and have fun!! Additional parking will be announced at a later date.

Volunteers needed to unload boxes and set up box party; 8:00

Race Day Registration for those that cannot make packet pick up: 7:00am

Again the race has a maximum of 500. Please email prior to race day if you want to enter to check availablility.

Race starts at 9:00 am

Emily's Smile Box day starts at 10:00AM

 Feel free to wear your favorite superhero accessories in honor of Jude.
