About This Activity

Annie Haggerty ran the entire length of the sandy beaches of the Cape Cod National Seashore in 1990. She was a lifeguard for the Cape Cod National Seashore for 19 summers. Annie passed away in 2013 from skin cancerAnnie is survived by her husband and 10 year old son who co9ntinue to reside on Cape Cod. This run was created in 2013 when 5 lifeguards started this run Aug 2, 2013, Proceeds from this run will benefit a scholarship fund for Annie's son and a donation will also be made to Dana Farber Cancer left in Boston.

Event details and schedule

This course is a beach run. It will begin promptly at 7 AM due to tide conditions. Runners will experience varying conditions including a sloped berm,soft sand and tidal changes which require runners to change their usual road stride. Shoes are optional but most beach runners prefer barefoot.

The course originates at Marconi Beach head lifeguard chair (CCNS). The route passes thru the Wellfleet and Truro town beaches and finishes at Head of the Meadow Head Lifeguard chair. You will pass 9 beaches total. Water stop and bathrooms will be at each beach access for a total of 4 water stops.

Transportation back to start will not be provided however each participant will be provided 1 beach pass to pick up runners or drop off relay teams. Each runner is encouraged to carry a cell phone however reception may be spotty.

Relay Legs:

Marconi to LeCount Hollow- 2.5miles

LeCouunt to Newcomb Hollow Beach-2.5 miles

Newcomb Hollow to Ballston Beach-3 miles

Balston to Head of Meadow Beach-5 miles

We are need of volunteers for water stop, packet pickup.
