Mental illness and substance use disorders affect millions of Americans and directly touch the lives of individuals, family members, neighbors, and colleagues. Families often deal with the complex dynamics of supporting a loved one in recovery while at the same time learning how to take care of their own well-being. Given the widespread impact and societal cost of these behavioral health conditions, it’s important for communities to make prevention, treatment, and recovery support services available and accessible for all who need them. Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) (www.samhsa. gov) sponsors National Recovery Month to increase awareness of behavioral health conditions. Celebrate Recovery at Temple Baptist Church has teamed up with dozens of community partners to bring awareness to this struggle, and to CELEBRATE the victories of those who are bravely fighting and overcoming their hurts, hangups and habits.
We will be having a RECOVERY RALLY Friday night, September 16th @ Temple Baptist Church in Selma, NC starting at 7pm with a live band, and several inspiring speakers. The Rally will be followed by a RUN FOR RECOVERY 5k Saturday morning, September 17th at 8am at the greenway outside of the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatic Center. We are excited to see these RECOVERY MONTH events bring a heightened awareness and an increased hope to our community that change is possible!!
All proceeds will benefit Celebrate Recovery @ Temple, a 12 step program that is bringing hope and healing to hundreds of people in Johnston County and beyond.
