9th Annual Bay to Bay Road and Trail Run

Event Date

Sat, Jul 12, 2014

Silver Bay, MN

About This Activity

The event is a part of the Silver Bay-Beaver Bay Days. Walkers/hikers are welcome in addition to runners. The course travels up Penn Blvd on the outskirts of Silver Bay until it reaches a trailhead of the Super Hiking Trail. Once entering the trail, runners quickly travel over a small footbridge and scamper up a challenging hill for about 1/4 of a mile. Many beautiful vistas with many descents and ascents are along the trail. At the halfway point, the trail travels over an access road where there is a water stop for all participants. The trail continues with more rugged terrain and travels up the northeast bank of the Beaver River. Be sure to say hi to the campers at this point as there are several designated hiking campsites along the river. The course continues upriver until you reach a suspended footbridge, travel over it and follow the trail over some railroad tracks and onto the Beaver Bay Road down to the finish near the mouth of the Beaver River as it enters Lake Superior. Travel back to Silver Bay after the race to take part in various events that make up Bay Days. A fan favorite is the 4 wheeler Mud Run next to the tennis courts and Gitche Gamme Bike Trail in downtown Silver Bay.
