About This Activity
Thunderbolt Youth Triathlon is a USAT Sanctioned Swim, Bike, Run event for kids ages 5-19 years old. It will consist of (5-10 year olds) 50 yd swim, 3 mile bike, .5 mile run, (11-14 year olds) 200 yd swim, 6 mile bike, 1 mile run and finally (15-19 year olds) 500 yd swim, 9 mile bike, 2 mile run. Awards will be presented to age group winners and overall winners in each race as well as teams. The goal of the Thunderbolt is to provide an opportunity for kids to engage in the sport of triathlon, have fun and be a part of something amazing. Participants will receive an overall time at the finish. They will also recieve a t-shirt, finisher's award and glory for them and their family. Participate as an individual (do the whole thing yourself) OR part of a team (swimmer, cyclist or runner).
Bolt Multisport Races strive to be inclusive events with the ability to make accommodations for children with physical or developmental disabilities. If your child would like to participate, and they have a diagnosed disability which could fairly and reasonably be addressed with an accommodation, please encourage them to participate. Our goal is to help each one of them make it to the finish line by allowing a measure help. There will be an opportunity to explain and request accommodations in the registration process.
Very Important: Kids will be placed in the age group according to their age on December 31, 2017. For example, if your child turns 11 in November, they would race against 11-12 year olds on September 30, 2017. This also means that 19 year olds turning 20 this year are not eligible to race. On the other end of the spectrum, a 4 year old turning 5 by December 31 of this year is eligible to race (against other 5-6 year olds.) This is a USAT rule, is maintained through all USAT races and ensures consistency from one race to the next.
