About This Activity
“TREATMENT TRAIL 2015”
Treatment Trail LLC sponsors the 2nd Annual "Treatment Trail," a fundraising event benefiting the GO BO Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW).
"Treatment Trail" is a 200-plus-mile, 8-day trail honoring a pair of spirited, strong and fearless boys from Door County, Wis., who fought life-threatening illnesses while traveling hundreds of miles, numerous times, to receive treatment at CHW. Their families traveled from Sister Bay to CHW for doctor visits, chemotherapy sessions, radiation treatments, MRIs, surgeries and many other medical appointments.
We are RUNNING their trail over 8 days to show our support and to make sure the efforts of those at the Go Bo Foundation and CHW are never forgotten or taken for granted.
The Go Bo Foundation is a non-profit organization based in DoorCounty that assists families with children fighting life-threatening illnesses. The foundation provides financial assistance as well as a network of people to assist families who rely on the hospital to get their kiddos feeling better again. CHW is one of the leading pediatric facilities in the country and we want to make sure it can continue its much-needed care and research.
Bo Johnson and Christopher "Teo" Lorona are the inspirations behind this event, and we want to continue their inspiring journey – as well as countless other Wisconsin children - who have humbled us through their resolve and courageousness while battling cancer. Our task of running from Milwaukee to Sister Bay is nothing compare to the challenges many children face just to feel normal again.
Treatment Trail 2015
BEGINS: Friday, June 12, 2015
An 8-day, 200-plus-mile “Trail” from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to Sister Bay Park, Sister Bay, Door County, Wis.
You can’t/don’t want to/don’t want to even think about running 200 miles? Join the club. The club has LOTS of people. Don’t worry; you don’t have to do the entire trail to be part of this incredible event. You can do a 5k. And you can run or walk.
We do have a small – very, very small – group of runners who covered the entire distance on foot last year and will be doing so again this year. We call them crazy. You can call ‘em whatever you want.
If you can’t be in Milwaukee for the start of the event or in Sister Bay for the finish line festivities it’s okay. We are coming to you! Just give us a few days and we will hold a 5k run/walk event at eight different cities along our “Trail.”
Each 5K will be its own event – but also serve as a fundraiser for our overall endeavor.
Each day will begin with a run to a different city. The distances range from 25-45 miles. We will then host a 5K run/walk in that city. We will continue that routine until we reach our finish line in Sister Bay. The following is the daily schedule:
Friday, June 12: 5K run/walk at Hart Park, Wauwatosa, 6 p.m.
Saturday, June 13: run to Port Washington at 6 a.m. 5K at Upper Lake Park, Port Washington, 12 p.m.
Sunday, June 14: run to Sheboygan at 6 a.m. 5K at Sheboygan County YMCA, 12 p.m.
Monday, June 15: run to Manitowoc at 8 a.m. 5K on Mariner's Trail across from Aurora Health, Manitowoc, 6 p.m.
Tuesday, June 16: run to Appleton at 8 a.m. 5K at Telulah Park, Appleton, 6 p.m.
Wednesday, June 17: run to De Pere at 8 a.m. 5K at Voyageur Park, De Pere, at 6 p.m.
Thursday, June 18: Rest day
Friday, June 19: run to Sturgeon Bay. 6 a.m. 5K at Sunset Park, Sturgeon Bay, at 6 p.m.
Saturday, June 20: run to Sister Bay at 6 a.m. 5K at Sister Bay Sports Complex at 12 p.m.
Cost for each event is $25 and includes a T-shirt and wrist band for finish line which will have a BBQ pig roast, beverages, raffle prizes and live music (bands are tbd). Register for one event and RUN AS MANY OF THE 5Ks AS YOU WANT! Just register and then email us at email@example.com and let us know what other events you want to join. If interested in joining us on one or more of city-to-city routes, please contact John Mahnke at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Children ages 10 and under are free. Children under age 10 are encouraged to donate a new or gently used book, DVD, video game or board game for the CHW resource left. Donations will be accepted at each 5k event.
Each event will include water and snacks at the start and finish lines. If you want to be part of a BIG finish line festival, come join us in Sister Bay. We will have a large picnic-style lunch starting at 1 p.m. with live music, drinks and much, much more. Those who were at the 2014 celebration will not forget the experience for a very long time. Make your reservations now to be part of the Treatment Trail 2015 finale!
Can’t make it to any of the running events, then how about a donation to the cause? Donations can be made through this registration page as well.
FINISH LINE – 1 p.m. at Sister Bay Park, across from Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik
