About This Activity
The Scottdale Pool has closed which, literally, has left us high and dry with regards to the Bookworm Triathlon.
NO POOL, NO PROBLEM!
The 2016 Bookworm will feature the Sprint Duathlon (run - bike - run) that has been run the past two years with the addition of a 5K run and competitive 5K walk.
The Sprint Duathlon will feature wave starts of 30 athletes leaving every 10 minutes beginning at 8:00 am. Athletes will di a 1 mile out - and - back utilizing the first half mile of the 5K run course, then return to transition to retreive their bikes. The Duathlon bike course has been shortened to 12.5 miles and has been modified to eliminate the two most difficult climbs, but still offers a challenging course over rolling terrain. The Duathlon 5K run course has been changed to eliminate the second out - and - back section but is still a very flat and fast course.
The 5K run and walk will use the Duathlon 5K run course. Both events will feature a mass start with the 5k run beginning at approximately 9:00 am and the 5K walk starting five (5) minutes later.
We hope you will join us as we begin a new "chapter" of the Bookworm as wel support the Scottdale Library youth programs.
