About This Activity

Bike Bedford County, presented by REI is a new non-competitive cycling event designed to showcase the beautiful outdoors and recreational assets of the Bedford County region.  With three unique ride options, there is something for every level of cyclist:
 
  1. The Allegheny Ascent, Sponsored by Reed, Wertz & Roadman is a challenging metric century which guarantees more than 5,000 feet of climbing through the beautiful Allegheny Mountains.  Shaded climbs on seldom-traveled rural roads featuring pristine forests, streams and wildlife. Ride summary: Begininng at Shawnee State Park; Exit to to 31 to rt. 96 to Manns Choice; Milligans Cove Road to 96 S. into Hyndman; Schellsburg Road to Goosebury Road to Fairhope Road; Glen Savage Road to 31/Glade Pike; New Baltimore Road to Lincoln Highway back to Shawnee State Park.
  2. The Covered Bridge Cycling Tour, Sponsored by Structural Fiberglass is an intermediate ride of approximately 30 miles, mostly flat with a limited number of gentle climbs.  The tour features the scenic Bedford County countryside and includes at least four of the county's historic covered bridges.  Leaving Shawnee Stat Park to Rt. 96 through Schellsburg and Riot.  Past the Fish Hatchery into Reynoldsdaleto Adams Run,Spring Hope and Valley Road through Schellsburg to Mill Road and Hillegass Road and back to Shawnee State Park.
  3. The Lakeshore Family Quest is a free family-friendly 5K ride within Shawnee State Park on the poplular Lakeshore Trail.  Perfect for kids and casual cyclists.
Registration for the two longer rides includes a free event T-shirt prior to July 27 deadline and as supplies last after that date; additional shirts are available for purchase. We look forward to making this one of Pennsylvania's premiere recreational cycling events!

WALK-IN REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THE MORNING OF THE RIDE, BUT WILL NOT INCLUDE T-SHIRTS.  T-SHIRTS MAY BE ORDERED DURING REGISTRATION FOR DELIVERY VIE MAIL.

Event details and schedule

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the rides starting at 9:00 a.m. Park entrances will be well-marked to guide participants to the parking and registration areas. Sponsors/vendors are welcome to display prodcuts throughout the event at the start/finish area.  Safety/refreshment stations will be available for each ride. Rain or Shine. No refunds for cancelations after July 26th.
