About This Activity

These clinics are designed to give every swimmer, whether novice or experienced, an opportunity to swim the course for Tri Santa Cruz, the Dip and Dash Aquathlons or other events such as SC Triathlon or Santa Cruz 70.3, and/or provide an opportunity to improve your open water skills and get more comfortable in the water. You'll get a practice swim on the course, tips and techniques for better swimming.

There are three clinics offered this summer. You can register for one, two, or all three clinics.

June 18 and July 30 are also offered as part of the Retro Tri Beginner race.  Paricipants have the option of registering for the race only or for the two clinics.  These two clinics will also cover the basics of racing, transition, and a rules overview.  The clinic on July 23 is an open water swim clinic only, without additional topics. People not wanting to register for the beginner race can register separately for one, two or three clinics on registration site.

Focus is on swimming skills and getting comfortable in open water. Learn how to sight for course accuracy, get in and out of your wetsuit, drafting, entering and exiting the water. Good for all levels of swimmers or triathletes looking to improve their swims. Its a great way to meet new training partners!

All clincs are USA Triathlon sanctioned clinic and a one-day license or annual membership is required for participation. Becuase these clinic are taught by USA Triathlon certified coaches you only need to purchase one USAT one-day membership ($15) for all clinics if you are not already a member.   If you are already an annual member you will not need to pay for the additional one day membership license.
