About This Activity

The Western Winter Roundup will be held on January 24, 2015 at the scenic Western Pleasure Guest Ranch near Sandpoint, Idaho.  The event includes 5k and 10k snowshoe and Nordic ski races.  All races start and finish at the ranch Headquarters.

The Nordic race will include both classis and skate ski styles on groomed trails.  The course will be located in the large meadow that includes flat and rolling hills and will consist of a 5k loop.

The snowshoe race is sanctioned as a Western Regional Qualifier for the US Snowshoe National Championships to be held in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in late February.  The course will be held in the Big Hill area and will be a combination of hills, meadows, forests, and open areas.  It will be challenging and scenic.  Snowshoe racers who wish to qualify for nationals must be a member of the US Snowshoe Association (USSSA) prior to race start (see website for details).  However, racers do not need to be a member of USSSA to participate in the race.  Competative and non competative divisions--no experience needed.  A limited number of showshoes will be available free of charge for use by anyone that does not have them but would like to join in the fun.  The snowshoe races will be held regardless of snow conditions to allow those wishing to qualify for nationals the opportunity to do so.  Be sure to check back for updates.

Special awards for race winners plus handcrafted awards for all finishers in all Nordic and snowshoe races.

Packet pickup from 7:00 to 8:45 at ranch headquarters.  All races begin at 9:00.  Hot food and beverage can be purchased following the race.
