About This Activity
The 6th annual Senorita Century & Rico Suave Challenge is an upscale cycling event for women and takes place on a scenic, challenging 100k/62mi and 45mi loop course during early spring in north San Diego County. It starts on the shores of Lake San Marcos, traveling down the hills along Lake Hodges, then opens up onto the famous Pacific Coast Highway at Solana Beach. After several miles of beautiful coastline and chic-chic beach towns, riders turn inland to face progressive rolling hills back to San Marcos and Lakehouse Resort. There are two major downhills and a few curves as the course follows Lake Hodges and passes Bing Crosby Country Club to the Pacific Ocean on Del Dios Highway. You finish the last half mile riding into quaint San Marcos in view of the lake with fellow riders motivating you to cross the finish line. The event also includes Saturday's pre-ride evening campfire with chocolate s' mores, canoeing, Glamping (glamorous camping), the "Best Rico" contest for the men, and post-race festival complete with Spanish music and a lakeside expotique.
PART OF THE CALIFORNIA GIRL SERIES
The Senorita Century is the first of 4 Rides for Women in the California Girl Series. And it’s the first event to qualify for the California Girl Series Medal and Ladies Triple Crown award.
The Senorita Century is one of California's most beautiful rides. There is a 500 participant limit, so register early to ensure a spot.
WHAT IS THE CALIFORNIA GIRL SERIES? We started with our first event for women in 2007 - it was a bike ride called the Princess Promenade. The goal was to get women out of their cars and on to their bikes for fun, fitness and a fantastic weekend getaway with like-minded women. We added the Beach Babe Classic & Beach Babe Half Marathon in Long Beach, Senorita Century in San Diego, Princess Challenge Ride in Folsom, and the Women's Gran Fondo in Calistoga (Napa Valley). We now offer 4 cycling events and 1 running event under the California Girl Series banner. Yep, just for you.
