About This Activity

First run in 1970, the Deseret News Marathon is the oldest road race in Utah and the oldest marathon west of the continental divide! The marathon follows the path that the Utah pioneers followed when they first entered the valley. The race is truly a part of Utah's heritage and history!!

This event takes place on July 24th, Pioneer Day, every year. The Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k courses all join the Days of 47 Parade route as they turn onto 200 East in downtown Salt Lake City. Once runners join the parade route they will be greeted by over 100,000 cheering Utahns!!! Running down the iconic parade route is an experience that cannot be duplicated anywhere, so come celebrate Utah's Pioneer Day with us and register now!
