About This Activity

The R&R 5K Service Challenge Run takes place on a scenic multiuse trail which makes a loop around the beautiful Grindstone Lake in Ruidoso, NM. The race begins at Wingfield Park, located next to the Midtown Shopping area and proceeds along Spring Road, Grindstone Canyon Road to Resort Drive and continues around the lakeshore trails returning to Wingfield Park along the same roadways. The event will finish with a community Military Appreciation event with bands, food, and presentations. Planned to become an annual race in conjunction with the communities Military 365 Appreciation Weekend so register soon to participate and to show your appreciation of our Nation’s Military.

Event details and schedule

Race starts promptly at 8 am, so please arrive at least :30 minutes prior to race.

The course is a combination of paved streets and natural surface, off road trails. The course begins in the upper parking lot of Wingfield Park on Center Street, turns onto Spring Road, making a southbound turn onto Grindstone Canyon Road, turning west on to Resort Drive into the upper parking lot of Grindstone Lake heading approximately one mile around Grindstone Lake utilizing the multiuse trail system, returning to Resort Drive through the Villages Disc Golf Course, back onto Resort Drive returning on Grindstone and Wingfield Street to the race origination point on Center Street.

Ample parking is available adjacent to Wingfield Park in one of the many Public Parking areas.

Packets can be picked up early at the Parks and Recreation Office, 535 Resort Drive, Monday through Friday (8:30 am to 4:30 pm) prior to the race or on the morning of the race at Wingfield Park.
